VCT Floors are very resilient

But they can be damaged.

Even though VCT floors are very resilient, they can be damaged. This floor is an example of an industrial floor that has not been stripped and waxed in over 5 years. While VCT floors are beautiful when taken care of as recommended there is also a cost that goes with that care and beauty.

Even with regular dust mopping and damp mopping being done as the customer request especially in a industrial setting it is very likely that a build up can and will occur. The heavier the traffic and the nature of the business can determine the frequency that a floor should be dust mopped and damp mopped. VCT Floor Treatment

Stripping and Waxing:

The picture to the left shows the same floor after being stripped and waxed. The difference is evident and given the customers approval His Handiworks can keep this floor looking clean, bright, and shiny for a long time.

Scrub and Recoat:

On VCT floors we can do a process called “scrub and recoat” in this proccess His Handiworks’ team comes in and scrubs the vct floor rinses it well and applies a presubscribed number of wax coats to the floors. This process helps prolong the life of the wax on the floor and there by prolonging the life of the wax between the strip and wax processes. A scrub and re-coat is not as costly as a strip and wax and if done at regular intervals can help to keep from having to do a strip and wax for several years.

Of course all these are usually determined by the amount of traffic, the type of traffic (i.e.,office vs. Industrial) and the decision is always the customers.

Burnishing & Buffing

Improve your durability.

Burnishing VCT floors:

VCT floors can also be burnished. The burnishing process is a way to bring back the shine of a waxed floor without the stripping or scrubbing or adding wax to the floor. This process is used to brighten up the shine by doing a high speed buffing of the waxed floor.

Buffing VCT floors:

VCT floors are also buffed. The buffing process is also used between the Stripping/waxing and the scrubbing and recoat process. Buffing will take out some of the light itching which occurs during day to day traffic and can remove the build up on heavier traveled floors. A low speed buffing machine is used.
